Chris comes to Clear Oncology after spending 28 years in the oncology pharmaceutical industry. During this time, he spent the first 21 years working for Johnson & Johnson’s oncology company, Ortho Biotech, which eventually became Janssen Oncology. During his tenure, he held numerous positions giving him expertise in Sales, Sales Training and Development, Sales Management, Contracting, Market Access, Reimbursement, and Key Account Management. While holding various positions, Chris found himself very intrigued by the dynamics of the business side of oncology. He quickly realized the challenges the community oncologists faced with cuts in drug reimbursement and market consolidation. During this time, he gave talks on the Affordable Care Act (Healthcare Reform) and how it would impact the oncology community. Topics such as the Oncology Care Model, Medicare Part D, Medicaid Expansion, and the Healthcare Exchanges were in high demand.
In 2017, Chris was recruited away from Johnson & Johnson to launch AstraZeneca’s first Hematology Franchise. Within nine months he was quickly promoted to the Commercial Business Director role, heading up sales for the western half of the United States. Over the next 6 years, he built strong relationships with key customers, while his team led the Hematology portfolio to blockbuster status. In Chris’s role as the Chief Executive Officer, he will focus on instilling a strong community oncology practice strategy that benefits the patients and the practice. His goal is to make mental health screening for cancer patients standard of care and believes a patient with a stable mindset can be more adherent to the treatment plan leading to better outcomes. Chris also believes Clear Oncology’s mental health data will be the first of its kind and will reveal trends and insights to help shape the way patients are treated.
